Epiroc Releases Boyles C6/C6C In Europe And North America

Epiroc is now launching the versatile surface core drill rig Boyles C6/C6C for the European and North American markets. The new CE-market version is equipped with a new Cummins engine with EPA Tier 4 and EU Stage V emission standards. Together with reduced emissions, the new Boyles rig will deliver various features focusing on productivity and safety. The new version will be available for sales from June 2022.

A new CE version of the versatile surface core drill rig, Boyles C6/C6C, is now being released to the European and North American markets. The exploration rig is equipped with a number of enhanced features, such as a new brake system, the new Cummins engine with EPA Tier 4 and EU Stage V emission standards and a slidable rotation unit.

“This is an important and exciting step for us, thanks to the new Cummins motor we are able to release this versatile surface drill rig at the European and North American markets. This new CE version of Boyles C6/C6C has a lot of exciting new and enhanced features to offer, making this version deliver even more productivity and safety – together with reduced emissions, says Seven Geng, Product Manager at Epiroc Surface division.”

Developed to assure a safe work environment

The CE version of the Boyles C6 and C6C is developed with safety as a top priority, with the goal to minimize the risk of personal injury during operation. Here are some of the key safety features connected to the rig:

  • The robust guard for Protection of Moving Parts (PoMP) is mounted on the mast to fulfil the EN 16228 standard, to prevent operators from coming into contact with moving parts.
  • · The possibility to slide the rotation unit to the side with help from a hydraulic cylinder, making the move easier and safer.
  • · A new brake system (for the trailer version) will enhance safety while stopping and running.
  • The winch motor is equipped with a built-in auto lock device, preventing the wireline winch from accidental moving during motor parking.
  • The ROM (Restricted Operating Mode) makes sure to control rotation speed as well as feed speed, when the cage is open

The new version will be available for sales from June 2022.
