Breakbulk Middle East 2023 Agenda Unveiled

Spotlights on Africa and Saudi Arabia Among Next Year’s Exciting Programme

We are thrilled to announce in this week’s BreakbulkONE the main stage agenda for Breakbulk Middle East 2023, taking place on 13-14 February at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Next year’s event, sponsored by Dubai-based global port operator DP World, will play host to a series of informative and engaging sessions featuring expert speakers drawn from companies and organizations from across the entire supply chain.

The exhibition will formally kick off on the Monday morning with a welcome and opening remarks from sponsors and special guests, followed by our first session: “Middle East and North Africa Project Review”. This session will provide a snapshot of the regional project market, pinpointing some of the world’s largest and most ambitious construction projects, from NEOM in Saudi Arabia to the North Field East LNG expansion in Qatar.

Our second session of the day will be an “MPV Outlook: Trends, Trade and Fleet”, an overview of how the sector is adjusting to the “new normal”. Our expert panel will delve into project cargo demand and the outlook for the MPV fleet.

Next up, “Business and Environmental Sustainability in the Breakbulk Sector: Pricing, IMO2023 and Carbon Emission Reporting”. Join the conversation as our speakers help unpack the ongoing challenges facing the industry amid fluctuating prices and new rules on decarbonization.

After lunch, a first “Saudi Arabia Project Spotlight” session will focus on the role of giga projects. Saudi-based logistics professionals will provide delegates with unique and up-to-date insights into these projects, drilling down into the most exciting opportunities for the breakbulk and project cargo sector.

This will be followed by “Rethinking Freight Formats”, as our experienced panel discusses how changing the freight format model could be the best option for a collaborative approach to de-risking engagement on projects. After a short break, our special tech session “Building the Business Case for Deployment of Logistics Technology for Industrial Projects” will bring together cargo owners at various stages of technology deployment to share their advice on transitioning from manual to digital.

Closing the day’s programme will be “Africa as a Region of Opportunity: Outlook, Projects and Entering the Market”. This session will outline the current state of play in key countries on the continent and top tips for being successful in entering the market.

Our Tuesday programme opens with a second “Saudi Arabia Project Spotlight” session, this time focussing on the King Salman Energy Park, or SPARK, a 50-square-kilometre mega project aiming to provide a platform for the global energy sector.

The second session of the day will be “End-to-End Logistics: Artificial and Business Intelligence Driving Efficiency in Ports”, a deep dive into how technology is driving efficiency and transforming business models of ports and terminals throughout the MENA region.

Our business programme for 2023 will conclude with “Renewable Energy in the GCC: What is Possible?” Many countries in the region have unveiled ambitious plans to pivot their economies away from oil and gas and expand green energy production. Our expert panel will look at the potential for large-scale renewable development and pinpoint the region’s most exciting opportunities for the sector.
