Metso Outotec Upgrades Its Service Centers In Chile And Peru To Meet The Growing Demand For Servicing Heavy Mining Equipment

Metso Outotec is expanding its service centers in Antofagasta, Chile, and Arequipa, Peru, to meet mining customers’ growing needs for servicing large and heavy equipment. The service centers in Chile and Peru will be expanded significantly including increased lifting capacity and machining capabilities.

After the expansions, the centers will be able to repair and refurbish large HRC and HPGR, Vertimill® grinding technology, and HIG mills for mining customers. The service centers are also equipped to serve beneficiation and de-watering technologies, e.g., filter plate pack service offerings. Further, the centers will support customers with their mining crushers, grinding mills, screens, and car dumper service needs.

The total investment value of both expansions is approx. EUR 13 million. The expansions are expected to be ready during the first half of 2024.

“Our customers are already expressing strong confidence in our service knowledge and technology competencies. These strategic investments will further strengthen our position as a reliable and industry-leading service provider with operations close to major mining customers in Chile and Peru,” says Martin Karlsson, Senior Vice President, Professional Services, Metso Outotec.

By offering comprehensive maintenance services for existing assets, Metso Outotec contributes to its customers’ sustainability goals. Refurbishment projects are an efficient method to extend operating life, increase energy and water efficiency, and minimize waste and plant downtime leading to improved machine availability and safety by delivering the latest available technology.

“Investing in the expansions in the key mining areas in South America demonstrates our commitment to our customers. We can offer shorter lead times and with the performance center capabilities included in our service portfolio, we can also offer preventive maintenance and improved safety for our customers’ equipment,” says Eduardo Nilo, President, South America market area, Metso Outotec.

Metso Outotec has an extensive service center network with over 3,000 field services professionals, technical support, and more than 40 service centers on six continents. We support our customers around the globe with a wide range of installation, commissioning, inspection, and maintenance services.
