Abdul Latif Jameel Motors Participates In Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus Trial In Makkah

Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, the authorized distributor of Toyota vehicles in Saudi Arabia since 1955, has partnered with Toyota Motor Corporation to support the second hydrogen fuel cell bus trial in the Holy City of Makkah. The pilot program, spearheaded by the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing sustainable and environmentally friendly public transport.

As a key supporter of the initiative, Abdul Latif Jameel Motors supplied the Caetano H2.City Gold bus for the trial and provided specialized training to the Makkah fire department on the safe operation and handling of hydrogen technologies.

The Caetano H2.City Gold is equipped with Toyota’s advanced, zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell stack and is manufactured by CaetanoBus SA, a company within the Portugal-based Salvador Caetano Group—an established partner of Toyota. Designed to meet the high demands of urban transport, the bus offers a driving range of 400 kilometers in local weather conditions and can be refueled in under 10 minutes, making it a highly practical option for commercial fleet operators.
