Introducing New 25 Metric Tons Capacity Rough Terrain Crane "GR-250N" For Japanese Domestic Market

TADANO Ltd. (Head office: Takamatsu city, Kagawa prefecture; President: Toshiaki Ujiie) will launch the new rough terrain crane, “GR-250N CREVO250 G5” with a maximum lifting capacity of 25 metric tons for Japanese domestic market on September 7, 2021 (Tuesday).

GR-250N [CREVO G5] Development Concept

New functions during crane operation have reduced CO₂ emissions and fuel consumption, and a diesel engine with superior environmental performance has been adopted. In addition, visibility on public roads has been improved, making it safer and more maneuverable for the operator to drive the crane comfortably and safely.

As the construction and building industry is facing a major turning point, we support the promotion of DX (Digital Transformation) with our “Lifting Solution”. We will provide new value to that supports safe and efficient operations.

*Rough Terrain Crane
The rough terrain crane is a self-propelled crane that can travel and be operated from a single driver’s seat. It is one of the most popular cranes in urban construction projects because of its excellent mobility in narrow spaces, compactness, and small turning radius.

*CREVO
The CREVO is a word coined from CRANE and EVOLUTION. This is the fifth generation of the CREVO series since its development in 1995.

GR-250N [CREVO G5] Features

  • Environmental considerations and operational efficiency improvement
New functions, which are aimed at improving operational efficiency and considering the environment, include “automatic acceleration”*1 that controls engine speed according to the amount of crane lever operation, and “automatic pump stop”*2 that stops the PTO pump when the crane is not being operated in order to reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. At the same time, a diesel engine with superior environmental performance has been adopted.

*1: The engine speed is controlled automatically and is linked with the amount of lever/pedal operation when the crane is being operated, improving operational efficiency. In addition, because the engine speed increases more efficiently compared to constantly depressing the accelerator pedal, fuel consumption and engine noise are also reduced.
*2: When the automatic pump stop switch is turned ON and the crane is not used for a certain period of time, the PTO pump is automatically turned OFF, reducing fuel consumption.
  • Tadano View System with improved visibility
Improvements have been made to the Tadano View System that supports safe driving. A new front left view camera and slewing table rear view camera have been added as standard equipment. Up to three patterns for the camera selections on the large-size display can be registered according to the road conditions, providing support for checking safety in the surrounding area while driving. The “human alert system” that detects and warns the driver when people are present has also been improved for a better detection rate. A camera that augments front left visibility has been added as standard equipment, improving visibility and safety while driving.
  • Efficient and safe crane operations with “Lifting Solution”
More efficient and safer work is supported with the provision of digital data and digital services that include API and BIM models and Telematics information.

(1) Provision of “Lift API” data

Machine performance calculation functions and Telematics data are provided via the Internet. By using Lift API, it is possible to check reaction force based on the lifting plan and work plan, and to expand the BIM software functions.

(2) Provision of “BIM model” data

In order to meet the need for using a crane model as a BIM element, BIM data for Tadano products is made available in BIMobject® and on our company’s website.

(3) “HELLO-NET” Telematics web information service

In addition to machine position information, this service allows checking of daily operating conditions, fuel consumption, and the timing for parts replacement and inspection.

(4) “HELLO-DATA LINK” smartphone-compatible app

This app allows the crane to be connected to a mobile terminal via a wireless LAN in order to check crane operating information, indicator information, error codes, and other information in real time from outside the cab.

  • Equipped with Setup radio controller
“Setup radio controller” has been fully renovated to allow safe and efficient work preparation and machine retracting while checking the surrounding conditions. A large 2.7-inch reflection-type color screen ensures high visibility even outdoors on a sunny day. The hand-held radio controller can be operated to set up and remove aluminum plates, extend and retract outrigger beams and jacks, and mount and stow jibs.

    * The crane operations that can be performed by Setup radio controller are only setup and removal of aluminum pads, extension and retraction of outriggers, and mounting and stowing of jibs. Radio controller cannot be used for crane operation.
  • Cab that allows for high operational efficiency
The crane operating information and various operation setting functions are concentrated on a large 12.1-inch color touchscreen panel. The LCD panel uses materials that prevent scatter reflection and condensation, and are resistant to impact. Because the touchscreen panel is an electrostatic capacitance type, it can be operated in a way that feels similar to a smartphone. Improvements to the electrical operating system also produce operability with an all-new feeling of a perfect fit. Feeling Operation allows precise control adjustments that match the operator’s perception and improves operational efficiency.
