Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam Buys SANY Ship-To-Shore Container Cranes

Rotterdam’s seaport, with its connections to more than 1,000 ports around the globe, is one of the most important international transport hubs. This is where the heart of Europe’s global cargo traffic beats. One of the pacesetters in the port is Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT). With the purchase of 3 new SANY REMOTE CONTROLLED AUTOMATIC SHIP-TO-SHORE-CRANES, ECT is further expanding its position as a high-performance and innovative logistics service provider.

There are a number of reasons why many ships bound for Rotterdam call directly at the ECT Delta terminal. On the one hand, there is the direct access to the North Sea, which is possible around the clock even for the largest ships – without having to pay attention to the tides. Secondly, the terminal maintains high-frequency connections to virtually all-important industrial locations worldwide. And finally, the ECT Delta terminal is equipped with highly efficient systems and was the first automated terminal in the world. With the investment in new, innovative SANY ship-to-shore container cranes, the ECT Delta terminal is paving the way to maintain its leading position also in the future.

The SANY ship-to-shore container cranes work full automatically and remote controlled. Furthermore, various protection functions ensure that this is done safely, with anti-collision systems monitoring the movements of the crane. This increases safety and reduces the handling time of each individual container.

It was SANY’s leading Key Account Manager Tobias S. Ling who contributed much to the relationship with ECT’s tender team during the bidding stage: “We actually turned the high-level request into a tailor-made complete solution that covered all the aspects required.”

Daniel Zhong, Key Account Manager Technical Specialist at SANY, adds: “For such a huge container terminal, the size of the cranes plays a decisive role. With Super Panamax-size technical requirements, the SANY ship-to-shore container cranes fit perfectly into the concept of tasks at the ECT Delta terminal. From their high performance of the individual components to the best possible terms of delivery and the fact that our European headquarter is located rather close to Rotterdam.”

Similar SANY cranes have been proving their high quality and durability worldwide for many years. This is guaranteed by our own high-quality standards as well as our many years of experience in steel construction. Frank Pfister, Sales Director at SANY, is pleased: “The demand for SANY cranes is steadily increasing, which supports our promise of quality.”
