ABB E-Mobility Provides Ragn-Sells With Seamless And Reliable High-Power Charging For Heavy Transport

ABB E-mobility today announced the planned deployment of multiple Terra High-Power (HP) chargers at Ragn-Sells facilities, accelerating the electrification of heavy-duty trucking and transport in Sweden. The installation was supported by the Swedish Energy Agency’s ‘regional electrification pilot’, a program investing as much as 350 million SEK into charging infrastructure projects that power the growth of heavy transport electrification.

Ragn-Sells will deploy 18 ABB E-mobility Terra HP chargers to fit the unique needs of their heavy transport charging sites. The Terra HP chargers are capable of charging more than 120 vehicles a day in the first year of operations at typical daily utilization rates. What sets Ragn-Sells apart is that the locations will not only cater to their growing electric fleet but will also offer charging services to other heavy duty trucking fleets. Expanding the charging infrastructure for heavy duty trucking is essential to support Sweden’s rapidly growing electrified vehicle fleets.

“We chose ABB E-mobility because of their expertise in building and supporting charging infrastructure and that knowledge is critical for establishing long-term, sustainable return on investment for these sites. That experience is something we valued and relied on during this project and at every step along our electrification journey in what is a fast-moving period,” said Erik Wastesson, Project Manager at Ragn-Sells Treatment & Detox AB.

This innovative approach was also key to Ragn-Sells receiving 45 million SEK in funding from the Swedish Energy Agency to install the ABB E-mobility high-power chargers. Ten chargers in Marieholm in Gothenburg (4) and Skepplanda in Ale (6) are operational today while a site in Högbytorp is set to go live with the remaining eight shortly.

“We’re proud to support Ragn-Sells in deploying solutions that ensure that every electric kilometer driven translates to maximized uptime, increased reliability, and low operation costs. Our industry is poised for exponential growth as innovators like Ragn-Sells harness the ‘regional electrification pilot’ to install charging infrastructure that delivers real ROI for heavy transport operators today and into the future,” said Oliver Johnson, Northern Cluster Sales Lead at ABB E-mobility.
