Flexible MegaMAX For The Transport Of Farming Machines

Flexible MegaMAX For The Transport Of Farming Machines

The Dutch company De Groen Transport is a well-known reference in the transport of agricultural equipment. It has gained additional options with a new 3-axle lowbed semi-trailer from Faymonville, which has a lowered loading platform with hydraulic width adjustment.

It is already the second vehicle with this configuration which has been used on Europe’s roads. The special feature is the flexibility of the loading platform. “That’s a significant advantage, especially with regard to the variety of farming machines”, explains Faymonville Sales Manager Arnold Luxen, and he goes on to list the technical details. “The outer area of the lowbed is lowered by 180 mm, which achieves a lower overall height. Integrated recesses with a length of over 1,800 mm serve as wheel recesses and achieve a further gain in height, depending on the load. If they aren’t used, bridging elements form a closed loading platform.”

Hydraulic width adjustment: flexibility, saving of time and ergonomics

The width of the lowbed semi-trailer can be adjusted hydraulically by remote control. And independently for each side. Overall, the basic width of 2,540 mm can be extended up to a maximum of 3,190 mm. Arnold Luxen explains further practical advantages. “The hydraulic width adjustment saves a great deal of time, because there is no need to manually pull out widening flaps and place boards on top. This ergonomic way of working is also beneficial for the driver’s health and safety.”

Since self-loading trailers, combine harvesters and harvesting machines also differ in length, the basic length of the MegaMAX of 8,200 mm can be variably extended by a further 5,000 mm. The gooseneck with central beam can be uncoupled for the loading process. Pendle-axles with a stroke of 600 mm and a 60° steering angle ensure optimum driving behavior and a large ground clearance if necessary.
