Amir Albazi, “The Prince” made headlines and caught the attention of so many this past week at the UFC Fight Night. Forced to flee the country of his birth two decades ago, Baghdad-born Albazi draws upon that experience to build a better future. He and his family fled from one country to the next, before finally settling in the United Kingdom. Starting all over, on foreign soil, and having to learn a new language, Albazi was determined to one day make his country proud. That day finally came.
This past Sunday, Albazi was recognized as the first Iraqi male fighter ever to make it to the UFC and leave with an epic WIN!
He crushed his opponent Malcom Gordon with a triangle choke in just the first round, leaving the entire arena awe-struck. His resilience and perseverance are evident in every swing he takes. You can see it in his eyes, in his strength, and his greatness.
He proudly dedicated his win to his beloved Iraq.
