The Finsterwalder Group already has 230 payload-optimised Lightplus trailers from Kögel. Now, the company is expanding its fleet with 55 additional trailers from the Burtenbach-based manufacturer. The many years of faithful collaboration based on the principle of “Because we care” were the deciding factor.

In recent years, Kögel has already supplied 230 trailers to Finsterwalder Transport & Logistik, based in Türkheim, Bavarian Swabia. “The reliability and expertise of our partner Kögel, combined with the high quality of Kögel trailers, meets our goal to increase efficiency and reduce our ecological footprint with a competitive overall package,” explains Dirk Holzapfel, Managing Director of Finsterwalder Transport GmbH. “The deciding factors in favour of Kögel were the low trailer weight, the attractive service and package price offer, the short delivery times, and the transparency and honesty we have experienced throughout our relationship with the company, who always takes our needs into account.”

All trailers equipped with Joloda systems

The result of a good customer relationship: Finsterwalder orders 55 additional Kögel Lightplus trailers. All of these are equipped with a Joloda system for quicker and easier loading and unloading of heavy paper rolls and pallets. Andreas Henn, Head of Internal Sales Germany at Kögel Trailer GmbH says: “We have enjoyed a decades-long partnership with Finsterwald and are proud of this successful cooperation in our own local area, with a direct connection to our headquarters in Burtenbach.”

Kögel practices its guiding principle: “Economy meets Ecology – Because we care”

The medium-sized, owner-managed logistics service provider Finsterwalder specialises in holistic logistics services. Every day, Finsterwalder dispatches up to 900 vehicle units with products from the paper, chemical, automotive and consumer goods industry in freight transport across Europe. Holzapfel emphasises that “Kögel’s guiding principle corresponds to our own company philosophy and fulfils our high standards in combining quality, reliable delivery, environmental friendliness and cost-efficiency”. “Kögel’s reliability, service quality and adherence to the promised price and delivery dates increases our efficiency, while reducing the overall operating costs of our entire fleet.” Finsterwalder’s geographical proximity to Kögel and the shared consignment warehouse in Türkheim facilitate short coordination paths and travel distances, as well as fast delivery of spare parts. This saves considerable costs.

Finsterwalder values the high durability of the Kögel Lightplus

Finsterwalder primarily uses curtain-sider trucks and the Kögel Lightplus with a Joloda system. Due to the heavy loads that the company transports, Finsterwalder particularly values the low trailer weight of the Kögel Lightplus trailer thanks to the weight-optimised frame and higher payload. “The high stability and durability of the trailers also help to reduce fleet costs, as does Kögel’s Europe-wide service network, which quickly supplies spare parts and reduces downtimes when it comes to service and maintenance,” adds Holzapfel.

A novel feature of the 55 new trailers is the integration of the standard Kögel Telematics system into the forwarding company’s existing system. This is made possible by the open interfaces of Kögel Telematics, which supplies all the trailer data in real time. Kögel Telematics maximises the performance of the trailer location and fleet management system. Furthermore, it reduces costs by increasing the utilisation of the trailers.
