Ensuring a better tomorrow, Astec Industries’ core focus is on using innovation to make lasting connections, to ensure progress and prosperity. Through the provision of raw materials for sectors such as road building, mining, asphalt and concrete, Astec is well placed to meet industry demand over the coming years.

Astec Industries is a global manufacturer of specialized equipment for asphalt road building, aggregate processing and concrete production. Headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, their operations are divided into two primary business segments: 1. infrastructure solutions which include road building, asphalt and concrete plants, thermal solutions and storage solutions and 2. material solutions which include aggregate and other material processing solutions.

Founded in 1972, Astec today handles its regional business through its global manufacturing facilities and strong dealer network. Astec Industries has 11 manufacturing facilities in North America, and have increased their international footprint with manufacturing facilities in South Africa, Northern Ireland, and Brazil. “Our international regional sales offices are well established in these areas, as well as in Australia, Thailand and Chile,” says Vinesh Surajlall, Material Solutions Director, Astec Industries Africa Middle East.

In the Middle East and North Africa region, Astec Industries has a diverse customer base. “We are experiencing continued growth in the mining sector, supported by more than 100 years of market presence through the Osborn & Telsmith brand. Our infrastructure product line, including asphalt and concrete processing, industrial heating and construction machinery, is established through our dealer network throughout the MENA region. We are dedicated to growing as a partner to the industries we serve,” continues Surajlall.

Mining and quarrying industry

Among the 232 products that the company manufactures, high demand for crushers and screens in both the mining and aggregate markets is a good indicator Astec Industries material solutions division. “We offer cone, jaw and impact crushers, as well as a variety of screens, available in stationary, portable (wheeled) and mobile (track) configurations. These products are used in several industries, including mining, industrial materials, aggregate/crushed stone and sand and gravel,” says Surajlall.

Poised for future growth

More than two-thirds of Astec Industries’ business is within the infrastructure business segment. The materials solutions segment continues to make immense inroads into the global market. Strong market demand across both segments continues to grow, and customer sentiment remains positive. A record backlog positions Astec for continued growth in 2023.

The customer journey

The customer journey begins with learning the customer’s needs and desires for the success of their project. “We complete an application analysis with the flow and plan view diagrams. After customer approval, we proceed with a detailed equipment proposal,” describes Surajlall. All Astec product lines are crafted to certified standards and supported throughout the lifespan of the machine. “Our investment in resources, training and inventory illustrates our constant customer support and commitment,” he adds. Also service and support for their machines continue long after a sale. Astec’s regional facilities and their extensive dealer network ensures their manufactured equipment operates effectively and efficiently throughout its life.

“Our team of service professionals provide fast, precise support thanks to an integrated relationship with engineering, sales, manufacturing and dealer personnel. The difference isn’t just in what we do, it’s how we do it,” continues Surajlall.

In the Middle East

Astec Africa Middle East recently partnered with Saleh Abdulaziz Al Rashed & Sons Co. (Al Rashed & Sons), a Saudi Arabia-based dealer that has 40 years of expertise and a large network in the Kingdom’s construction industry.

“Our partnership with Al Rashed & Sons, as well as our comprehensive equipment solutions, training and support, will ensure new opportunities in the Kingdom. We plan on enhancing our dealer network throughout the MENA region to better support our growing customer base and demand there,” says Surajlall.

The GCC region shows promising growth in the infrastructure sector according to Astec Industries. Furthermore, their products are well-suited for this sector, which requires innovation and quality. “We offer a spectrum of products that meets the needs from rock crushing to asphalt and concrete. Saudi Arabia’s growth in the mining sector is well noted and Astec has an excellent record in providing innovative crushing and screening solutions to the mining sector,” adds Surajlall.

Improving efficiency and reducing operating cost by 50% is the mobile cone crusher FT 400.

Mobile Crushing Plants

Jaw Plants

Astec Industries’ mobile jaw plants are built for maximum jaw crushing mobility. They feature the company’s Pioneer Series Jaw Crushers. This machine offers up to 25% more capacity than competitive models and is equally effective in aggregate or recycling applications. These plants allow stationary and portable producers to benefit from on-site mobility.

Cone Plants

Astec Industries’ mobile cone plants are manufactured for maximum cone crushing productivity. Its unique roller bearing design on the company’s Kodiak Plus cone crushers achieves greater efficiencies and reduces operating expenses by up to 50%. Both mobile and stationary producers will benefit from quick, on-site movement.

Mobile Screening Plants

Horizontal screening plant

Astec Industries’ mobile horizontal screening plant includes a variety of features for optimum screening efficiency and production.

Offering ideal gradation control for reclaiming fines in both wet and dry applications, the horizontal screening plant pairs this function with the flexibility and mobility of the track unit enabling producers to quickly and easily produce the material they need.

High frequency screen

Astec Industries’ high frequency screens operate at 3,600 revolutions per minute (rpm) and are capable of maximum screening efficiency and production.
