Schmitz Cargobull, Europe’s leading manufacturer of semi-trailers, has added a new product to the General Cargo portfolio. The new S.CS FREEPOST curtainsider semi-trailer has been specially developed to meet the requirements of transport companies in the United Kingdom (UK) and the Republic of Ireland without sliding stanchions and is manufactured in the Schmitz Cargobull production plant in Manchester (UK).companies in the UK and Ireland.

“We successfully started production at our plant in Manchester (UK) in June 2021 with the production of the market-specific S.BO PACE box semi-trailer and S.CS FIXED ROOF curtainsider semi-trailer. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers the S.CS FREEPOST curtainsider semi-trailer without sliding stanchions from our proven modular system,” explains Paul Avery, Managing Director – Operations at Schmitz Cargobull UK.

Matthias Muffert, Head of Product Management General Cargo at Schmitz Cargobull, adds: “Before the start of series production, we subjected the S.CS FREEPOST to a series of strict tests. The vehicle, which has a fixed aluminum roof, galvanized steel outer bars and a reinforced chassis structure equipped, meets the strict TÜV requirements with its low dead weight and is DIN EN 12642 Code XL certified. Our customers can rely on a high-quality curtainsider with maximum safety for general goods transport.”

In addition to the high body strength, the design of the S.CS FREEPOST also focused on the handling and safety of the goods and the driver:
The S.CS FREEPOST is available in different heights from 4,200 mm to 4,800 mm. It does not require sliding stanchions and offers the driver a free lateral loading and unloading height of up to 3,200 mm. To facilitate unloading, the tarpaulin can be tensioned from both the front and the back. The Schmitz Cargobull Susi-Rail offers additional handling comfort, with which the light and brake connections can be moved and thus operated from the side.

Flexible load securing points with continuous lashing holes in the outer frame and optionally 16 pairs of 4t lashing rings are available for optimum securing of the load. The load can be prevented from slipping by using optionally available load securing belts, which are stretched from the floor to the roof in rails. The goods are given additional security against unauthorized access by a 1.8 meter high anti-theft device integrated in the tarpaulin.

Like all Schmitz Cargobull semi-trailers, the S.CS FREEPOST with the tried-and-tested, repair-friendly MODULOS chassis comes with a 10-year guarantee against rusting through. The chassis is supplemented by the ROTOS axles, which are guaranteed for 1,000,000 km or six years*.

The vehicle is rounded off by Schmitz Cargobull’s TrailerConnect® telematics system, which is factory-installed as standard. TrailerConnect® offers intelligent connectivity and supports rapid diagnosis and processing of the data collected from all components.
