Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) made headlines at bauma 2025 with the unveiling of the A30 Electric and A40 Electric — the world’s first serial-produced battery-electric articulated haulers in their size class. These groundbreaking models mark a significant milestone in the shift toward more sustainable, high-performance construction equipment.
Powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries, both haulers deliver 4 to 4.5 hours of runtime in typical applications, with the flexibility to handle demanding, high-energy tasks with additional recharging as needed. Equipped with DC fast-charging capability of up to 350 kW, operators can recharge from 20% to 80% in about an hour, minimizing downtime on busy job sites.
What truly sets these machines apart is their environmental impact. When powered by renewable energy, the A30 Electric reduces CO₂ emissions by 84% and the A40 Electric by an impressive 90% over their entire lifecycle compared to their diesel counterparts, underscoring Volvo CE’s leadership in clean, future-focused construction solutions.
A limited volume of the A30 Electric and A40 Electric models will be available for the European market starting in 2026, with plans for expanded production in the years ahead as demand for electric heavy equipment continues to grow.
