Larsen Toubro LT has won the turnkey engineering procurement and construction EPC contract for setting up renewable energy power utilities and water systems for Saudi Arabia’s ultra-luxury tourism destination Amaala in the Red Sea region. Amaala, alongside the previously announced NEOM, is part of the giga-projects investment portfolio of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). The Amaala project involves the construction of a luxury tourism destination spanning across 3,800kms of untouched nature reserves in Saudi Arabia’s northwestern coast. The project will include luxury hotels with 2,525 hotel rooms, 700 private villas, 1,496 residential units, a dedicated airport, more than 200 shops, a retail village, marinas, several yachting clubs, and an Academy of the Arts.

Iraq intends to invite developers and investors for the construction of New Residential City in western Al-Anbar Governorate. The development will include a total of 91,000 units. Iraq has set strict terms for awarding project involving the construction of new residential city to avert a recurrence of previous project delays. The $1 billion project will contain housing for those with special needs, vertical and horizontal apartments, hotels, restaurants, schools, hospitals, roadways, and other amenities.

Sahara International Petrochemical Co. (Sipchem) and National Industrialization Co. (TASNEE) awarded an engineering procurement and construction EPC contract for ethylene cracker plant. The project was awarded to SGCeTEC Engineering Construction Company South Korea. The contract aims to boost production at the ethylene cracker plant, a joint venture affiliated to Tasnee Sahara Olefins Co. (TSOC), which is 32.55% owned by Sipchem and 60% by Tasnee. The expansion project will likely be complete in H1 2026, with operations leading to an increase in Olefins production by an estimated 18%.

Saudi Entertainment Ventures (SEVEN), a subsidiary of the Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund Public Investment Fund (PIF) has announced plans to set up its fifth entertainment destination in the Aseer region. Strategically located between the cities of Abha and Khamis Mushait, near Abha International Airport, the new leisure hub is spread over a 64,000sqm area and has a built-up area of more than 79,000sqm. Designed by Gensler, a global architecture, design, and planning firm, the project’s architecture has been inspired by the ancient stone buildings of the area to highlight the identity of Aseer. The design aligns with the principles of The Urban Code of Aseer Region which aims to promote excellence in urban planning, design, landscape and architecture, while respecting the identity of the region. Saudi-based Modern Building Leaders (MBL) has been signed up by SEVEN to carry out the construction works.

Project: Sharjah International Airport Expansion

Sharjah kicks off work on new $336m airport terminal. The expansion of the airport will include the construction of several facilities, including the expansion of the passenger terminal as well as roads in the surrounding area. The expansion will increase the terminal’s capacity to accommodate about 20 to 25 million passengers by 2026. The project will include two departure halls and two passport control areas to maintain the flow of passengers through the airport. A new VIP lounge with a separate entrance and exit will serve businesspeople in the UAE.

Samana Developers, located in Dubai, has announced a 725 million UAE dirham residential project in Dubai’s Al Barari area. The 27-story project spans approximately 800,961 square feet. The property will be fully outfitted with smarthome technologies, and all residences will include private pools. Barari Views will have 669 units and is slated to open in the first quarter of 2027.

The stretch from its intersection with Al Khail Road to that with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road extending 4.6km will be developed to increase its capacity to 16,000 vehicles per hour. The Improvement of Umm Suqeim Street Project is a 4.6km long project that extends from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The project includes an upgrade of the intersection with Al Barsha South Street, located near Kings School, by constructing an 800-metrelong tunnel with four lanes in each direction on Umm Suqeim Street. A signalised surface intersection will also be constructed as a part of the project.
